Overview

SNAP-8.

SNAP-8 takes its name and its sequence from SNAP-25, a protein found at nerve terminals, whose N-terminal end it mimics. It is the eight-residue extension of a well-known six-residue predecessor, and appears in ingredient listings under its systematic name, acetyl octapeptide-3.

It is capped at both ends, with an acetyl group at the N terminus and an amide at the C terminus, so neither end carries a free charge. Supplied as 10 mg of freeze-dried powder.
